Help for children in need

CCPC’s Care Closet is responding to the needs in our community by expanding our outreach.  We continue to provide quality used clothing and household items for the clients who attend our food pantry.  Donations for that ministry are always welcome in the bin outside of the Care Closed located on the lower level across from the elevator.

In addition, we have divided our other ministries into three separate areas with new names and logos:

Hearts of Hope

Hearts of Hope (formerly Christmas Families)

Hearts of Hope provides area families in need with Christmas gifts, food and the activity box described below. Here's what you can do.

Back to School Sales – Our adopted Hearts of Hope families receive an activity box filled with items that encourage creativity and family togetherness.  Back-to-school sales time is a great opportunity to purchase items for our 50 boxes at reasonable prices.  Please consider picking up quantities of the following items and leaving them in the tub outside of the Care Closet:

·         Crayons

·         Colored pencils

·         Marker sets

·         Glue sticks

·         Packs of colored construction paper

·         Packs of White Drawing or Computer Paper

·         Activity and Coloring Books

·         Puzzle, brain teaser, word game books

·         New and used children’s books and paperbacks

·         Small games and decks of cards

Soles for Schools

Soles for Schools

Souls for Schools is an new ministry that has evolved from the shoe donations that we receive for our mission auction and an increasing need in the community to help area schools access shoes for students in need.  Preparing for the back-to-school ritual means new shoes for many area children, however, there are students who are still coming to school in December in flip-flops.  Last year we responded to approximately shoe 50 requests from schools and our adopted Hearts of Hope families.  We had the honor of presenting several students with the first pair of new shoes they have ever had.

We are seeking new ways to secure additional pairs of new shoes in varied sizes.  89Q is partnering with us for a back-to-school"Soles for Schools" campaign for the entire month of August.  If you find a great bargain on shoes of any size (youth 13-adult), please consider buying a second pair and donating them to our Care Closet’s Soles of Schools ministry.

In addition, 89Q will also be asking listeners to help by donating new jeans in all sizes 6X-adult.

Our third Care Closet partner ministry isWrapped in Warmth.  Through this ministry, we provide new and like-new jackets, snow pants, winter boots, hats and mitten/gloves to area children who would go without if not for the support of this program.  Winter clothing is distributed in two ways:  directly through requests by area school guidance counselors; and through requests/needs of our Hearts of Hope families.  If you have family members that have out-grown winter wear that is in excellent condition, please consider donating the items to our Care Closet ministries.
